Commercial packaging: Each floor sander shall be prepared and packaged as applicable in accordance with the supplier's normal method for retail distribution. Shipping containers, when used, shall comply with the Uniform Freight and/or National Motor Freight Classification rules as applicable.
Marking for shipping and storage: Unit, intermediate, and exterior packs shall be marked with the item nomenclature, stock or part number, quantity per pack, and contract number as a minimum; additional marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. Exterior packs
shall have the complete consignee's address. All marking shall be applied in a legible manner, in contrasting color, of an appropriate size, and with waterproof materials.
Quality assurance: Each floor sander shall be examined for the following defects. Presence of one or more defects shall be cause for rejection.
1. Design not as specified.
2. Size not as specified.
3. Accessories not as specified.
4. Fabrication not as specified.
5. Treatment and painting not as specified.
6. Safety equipment not as specified.
7. Materials not as specified.
8. Preparation for shipping, packaging, and marking not as specified.
Notes: The procuring agency should specify the preferred options permitted herein and include the following information in the procurement document:
1. Title, number, and date of this item description.
2. Type and class of sander.
3. When military packaging and marking is required.
4. When commercial packaging is required.
